A Trip to the Hudson Valley? Yes Please!

The spring is a fabulous time of year. The sun shines brighter, making for longer, warmer days. The outdoors becomes more accessible and I always have an urge to explore. But where to go?
My top choice would be a small town in the Hudson Valley. Known for its wonderful restaurants and walkable streets, it tops my list. Fletcher Lake, the fictional town in Peril in Pink, took inspiration from a number of places within the region. Hudson, NY is one of them. Here are the top three reasons I can’t wait to visit:
- There are so many restaurants here I’m desperate to try! A foodie’s paradise, it would take weeks to try all the amazing restaurants located in Hudson. Some of my top choices are Lil’ Deb’s Oasis, Wunderbar Bistro, La Mision, and Red Dot Restaurant & Bar.
- The bookstore! Spotty Dog Books & Ale: The name alone has me desperate to spend an afternoon here (at the very least).
- 510 Warren Street Gallery: one of many galleries within the town, this one is an artist-owned galley with a variety of mediums showcased.
If you were to choose one place to explore in the coming days, where would you choose to go?

Sounds delightful, Sydney. Gosh, pencil me in to your location, bookstores, foodies. Especially in late summer or spring. 🙂 Because I try and use real places in my books, I’d probably stick to Montrose, Colorado, which is a prominent setting in my Cold Case Suspense series. Much of the town is in walking distance. It’s nestled in the Uncompahgre valley and is built on the Uncompahgre River, close to Telluride, Grand Junction, Gunnison, Crested Butte. I’ve found it has something for everyone. But especially for those who love Colorado and the great outdoors. Welcome aboard!
I’ve always wanted to go to Colorado, it sounds amazing! As a snowboarder Telluride sounds pretty incredible. It would be hard to say which season I’d choose–any I think!
Before moving to Tennessee nearly three years ago, my husband and I often took day trips up to the Hudson Valley. So much beauty and history! I miss it.
It would be nice to be so close. Tennessee looks beautiful too!!

All sounds divine, but I’ve been yearning to go back to Australia as I only spent a limited amount of time there years ago (and there was so much more to see and experience).
It’s such a fun place to explore. I spent two months there years ago and would love to return as well.
Anyplace that is not New York City.
LOL!!! I love NYC but there’s something to be said about HV. It’s a perfect getaway spot.
Our go-to places for short trips include the Central Texas Hill Country in wildflower season and secluded Gulf Coast beaches on mild winter days. We’ve traveled to locations near your Hudson Valley haunts, Lynn. After this post, I’m ready for more!
I’m about ready for a beach trip myself. Spring can’t come soon enough. It’s amazing how many great places there are to visit and explore!
